Sexual Abuse Prevention Seminars How Parents Can Get Involved

It's Your Child, It's Your Community... What Can You Do?

  1. Educate yourself on how to teach children self-protection skills.
  2. View the article on this website entitled “Protecting Your Kids Against Sexual Abuse.”
  3. Request that all elementary and pre-schools in your neighborhood offer sexual abuse prevention programs.
  4. Ensure that the prevention programs at your local schools address specific molest dynamics rather than merely discussing the danger of “stranger” touch.
  5. Provide funding for sexual abuse prevention programs and educational materials.
  6. In California, conduct a “Megan's Law” search and identify convicted child molesters in your school district. Share this information with parents whose children frequent “high-risk” areas. Megan's Law information can be obtained through local law enforcement agencies.

  7. Take action on a state level by making sure your state’s Department of Education mandates that sexual abuse prevention classes be taught on an annual basis.
