It's Your Child, It's Your Community... What Can You Do?
- Educate yourself on how to teach children self-protection skills.
- View the article on this website entitled “Protecting Your Kids Against Sexual Abuse.”
- Request that all elementary and pre-schools in your neighborhood offer sexual abuse prevention programs.
- Ensure that the prevention programs at your local schools address specific molest dynamics rather than merely discussing the danger of “stranger” touch.
- Provide funding for sexual abuse prevention programs and educational materials.
- In California, conduct a “Megan's Law” search and identify convicted child molesters in your school district. Share this information with parents whose children frequent “high-risk” areas. Megan's Law information can be obtained through local law enforcement agencies.

- Take action on a state level by making sure your state’s Department of Education mandates that sexual abuse prevention classes be taught on an annual basis.
